            KEENE, N.H. – Led by sophomore Griffin Meehan's (Simsbury, Conn.) school-record 60th goal of the season, top-seeded Keene State College upended in-state rival and fourth-seeded Plymouth State University, 16-4, Thursday afternoon in the Little East Conference men's lacrosse semifinals at Owl Athletic Complex.

            Keene State, 11-5, advances to the LEC Championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m. against second-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University at Owl Athletic Complex.  The Owls, who lost to the Warriors in Willimantic, Conn. in the championship game 12-8 last year, won the LEC title in 2007 and 2005.

            KSC led 5-0 in the second quarter before PSU got on the board on a goal by sophomore Teddy Akriviellis (Dover, Mass.). Senior Brett Zabrowski (Bayville, N.Y.) scored the only other Panther goal of the half, with a man advantage at the 3:44 mark, but PSU trailed at the half, 8-2.

            The hosts tallied the only three goals of the third quarter to go up by nine goals and coasted home in the fourth.  PSU got a pair of man-down goals 15 seconds apart from senior Logan Irish (Somers, Conn.) and Akriviellis early in the fourth to round out the Panther scoring.

            Keene State had a 49-26 advantage in shots and a 35-13 margin in ground balls. The Owls won 15 of the 23 face-offs.

            Junior goalie Alec Corliss (Waltham, Mass.) played the first three quarters for KSC, allowing two goals and making 10 saves in the win. Plymouth State split time with Kevin Hayes (Beverly, Mass.) and Jack Tyo (East Sandwich, Mass.) combining for 14 saves.

            PSU, 8-8, will await a possible ECAC Tournament berth, which will be announced on Monday.
