PSU Volleyball earns split at Tom Hay Inv.

Stoodley named All-Tournament for Panthers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team salvaged the final match of the weekend Saturday afternoon, sweeping Westfield State University, 3-0, to finish the day with a 1-1 record at the Tom Hay Invitational, hosted by Springfield College.

PSU dropped a 3-0 decision (26-24, 25-22, 25-19) to SUNY New Paltz in Saturday's first match, but finished up with a 26-24, 25-19, 25-10 triumph over Westfield State.  The Panthers finish the tournament with a 1-3 mark, including a pair of heart-breaking, five-set losses Friday evening to 20th-ranked Springfield and Stevens Institute of Technology.   PSU is now 13-8 on the season.

Senior libero Danielle Stoodley was Plymouth State's representative on the All-Tournament Team.  She averaged 4.0 digs per set in the tournament while also posting six service aces.  Stoodley recorded more than 20 digs in both PSU matches Friday night, 23 against Springfield and 21 vs. Stevens.

PSU also got solid attack performances from sophomore Allie Jones, senior Meghan Sullivan and sophomore Kaitlyn Tedeschi.

Plymouth State is back on the court Tuesday with a Little East Conference match at the University of Southern Maine.
