Box Score Eriksen posts career-high seven points for
Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Andrew
Eriksen (Beverly, Mass.) recorded a career-high seven
points Monday afternoon to lead Plymouth State University to a
decisive 15-5 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston
in a Little East Conference men's lacrosse contest at Panther
Field.
Eriksen finished with three goals and four assists on the
afternoon; he tallied all three goals and three assists in the
first half alone, helping PSU to a 12-1 advantage at the
intermission. Eriksen is PSU's leading active scorer
with 86 goals and 45 assists.
PSU improves to 7-5 overall and moves into a four-way tie for
second place in the Little East with a 3-2 mark. UMB drops to
5-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Freshman Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.) also
contributed three goals and an assist to the Panther attack.
Sophomore Shawn McEvoy (Spring, Texas) scored two
goals and seven others tallied one goal each. The Panthers also got
strong performances from sophomore Devon Smith
(Plattekill, N.Y.) and senior Justin Dube
(Buzzards Bay, Mass.), who picked up eight ground balls apiece, and
Smith won 17-of-22 face-offs.
UMB got two goals from freshman Tommy Petitti (Quincy, Mass.) and
once apiece from junior Rob Uhrig (Boston, Mass.) and freshmen Dean
Driscoll (Cohasset, Mass.) and John Perro (Northbridge,
Mass.). Sophomore Andrew Sutton (Norfolk, Mass.) collected
six ground balls and freshman Patrick McGoff (Charlestown, Mass.)
picked up five.
After the teams traded goals in the opening five minutes of the
game, PSU rattled off four unanswered goals to finish the first
period with a 5-1 advantage. The home team continues its
strong play, tallying all seven goals of the second frame for a
12-1 margin at halftime. UMB came alive in the third period with
three unanswered goals, but PSU put the game away with the first
three goals of the four quarter.
Both teams play conference games on Wednesday as PSU travels to
rival Keene State College and UMB hosts the University of Southern
Maine.
