Box Score 2 Nieman earns All-Tournament Team honors for Panthers
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Tom Hay Invitational at Springfield College, falling to two teams that have a combined record of 38-3.
The Panthers began the day with a 3-0 setback to Roger Williams University (25-15, 25-17 and 25-15); RWU is ranked #24 nationally and now sports a record of 22-1. PSU fell to host Springfield in the second match of the day (25-8, 25-17 and 25-11); Springfield is now 16-2 on the season.
Plymouth State, which defeated Westfield State University Friday evening in the opening match of the tournament, completes the weekend at the .500 mark (11-11) for the season.
Junior Jana Nieman (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was PSU's selection to the All-Tournament Team. Nieman posted a team-high 10 kills in the loss to Roger Williams, and she shared team-high honors with five kills vs. Springfield.
PSU returns to Little East Conference action Tuesday with a visit to the University of Southern Maine for a 7:00 p.m. match.
