PSU Men's Soccer tips Daniel Webster in overtime

Box Score

Edmunds goal in OT wins it for Panthers; Little East opener Saturday

NASHUA, N.H. – Sophomore Adam Edmunds (Wilton, N.H.) converted a cross-pass from classmate Petro Masumbuko (Manchester, N.H.) as part of a two-on-one break with 2:36 remaining in overtime Wednesday afternoon to give Plymouth State University a 3-2 victory over host Daniel Webster College in non-conference men's soccer action at Eagle Field.

Edmunds' game-winner capped a victory that saw the Panthers (2-3) come back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 and dropped the Eagles to 3-3 on the season.

Marcos Vieira Filho (Hudson, N.H.) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally in the 27th minute but sophomore Graham Hughes (Billerica, Mass.) would tie it with an unassisted score of his own with 3:49 to go before the break for a 1-1 game at the half.

The Eagles broke through in the 56th minute as Paul Hoy (Merrimack, N.H.) headed home a redirection of a Brad Hosey (Salem, N.H.) kick but Masumbuko answered 10 minutes later with an unassisted strike that forced the eventual extra session.

Eagle goalkeeper Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) was solid, making a season-high 15 saves in taking the tough-luck loss while Sam Whipple (Kingston, N.H.) made four stops for the Panthers.

Plymouth State opens its Little East schedule on Saturday, visiting Keene State at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles return to action on Saturday as they open NECC play hosting Mitchell at 1:00 p.m.
