PSU Women's Tennis shuts out Johnson State

Panthers coast to third straight victory

            JOHNSONVILLE, Vt.  – The Plymouth State University women's tennis team dropped only four games Saturday afternoon en route to a 9-0 victory over Johnson State College in non-conference women's tennis action.

            Junior Zara Jakubas (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) and freshman Sunny Jakubas (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) led the Panthers with a pair of wins each. They teamed up for an 8-0 triumph at No. 1 doubles, and coasted to victories at No. 1 and No.2 singles, respectively.

            All four other Panthers in the line-up were also double winners. Sophomore Nikki Lund (Hingham, Mass.) and junior Nitsa Ioannides (El Cajon, Calif.) were 8-0 winners at No. 2 doubles before easy wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, and freshman Cassidy Wells (Burlington, Vt.) and senior Rosalie DiRado (Gansevoort, N.Y.) did the same at No. 3 doubles before coasting to wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

            PSU is off to a 3-0 start to the season. The Panthers will play again Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against Castleton State College at the Holderness School Courts.
