Box Score Panthers too much for Hornets in season opener
LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Plymouth State University women's tennis team opened the 2016 season Thursday afternoon with an easy 9-0 victory over Lyndon State College in a non-conference road match.

PSU HIGHLIGHTS
* Five Panthers were double winners, taking matches in both singles and doubles.
* PSU won five of six singles matches in straight sets.
* Junior Megan Wallace (Moultonborough, N.H.) came back from a set down to win at No. 1 singles in a third-set tiebreaker.
* Sophomore Megan Wheeler (Manchester, N.H./Central) won at No. 5 singles and teamed with Wallace with win at No. 2 doubles.
* Sophomore Kelley Corson (Exeter, N.H.) and senior Rachel Gustafson (Belchertown, Mass.) won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, and paired up to win at No. 1 doubles.
* Freshman Alex Dunn (Jaffrey, N.H.) was a double-winner in her collegiate debut, winning at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles with sophomore Lily O'Connor (Salem, N.H.)
*Sophomore Nicole Tartagni (Guilford, Conn.) also took the No. 6 singles match.
NOTES
* PSU's top player, sophomore Irene Ireme (Concord, N.H.) missed the match for an academic commitment.
* Season opener for both schools
