Randolph tallies a goal and an assist in LEC win

GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore Jerry Randolph (Malmo, Sweden) had a goal and an assist as three different players scored for Plymouth State University in a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Randolph scored his second goal of the season. Randolph was able to knock the ball into the net after a strong service from senior Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia) that was flicked on by sophomore Joni Hongisto (Kaarina, Finland) to give the Panthers a one-goal lead that would stand through the half.

Junior Juan Rivera (Mt.Kisco, N.Y.) made it 2-0 in favor of the Panthers in the 59th minute as Rutherford again orchestrated a set piece for PSU. Freshman Erik Armskog (Floda, Sweden) capped the scoring in the 86th minute for the 3-0 result. Armskog received a forward ball from Randolph at the top of the box, and made a move to the right before unleashing a shot for his first goal of the season.

Freshman Linus Lindeberg (Stockholm, Sweden) earned the win for Plymouth State, making five saves to improve to 4-5-0 on the year. Southern Maine freshman goalkeeper Richard Glemawu (Accra, Ghana) made four saves in the loss, falling to 5-8-2.

The Panthers have posted two-straight LEC wins to improve to 4-8-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the Little East. Southern Maine moves to 5-8-2 and 0-4-1 in league play.

Plymouth State closes out the season with three-of-four games at home on Arold Field. PSU will host Lyndon State on Tuesday (Oct. 17) for Senior Day, with game time set for 3:00 p.m.
