Box Score Panthers sweep doubles without dropping a game
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the second straight match the Plymouth State University women's tennis team showed off its impressive depth as the Panthers cruised past Northern Vermont University-Johnson, 9-0, in a non-conference contest at the Holderness School Courts on Monday afternoon.
PSU rolled through doubles play, building a quick 3-0 lead without dropping a single game. The Panthers were just as impressive in singles action as every healthy player contributed to the win.
Plymouth State picks up its third straight win to improve to 4-1 overall. PSU's lone loss came at the hands of NCAA Division II Saint Anselm by a single point (4-3). NVU-Johnson remains winless at 0-7.

How it Happened.
- PSU cruised through pairs play to build an early 3-0 lead. Freshmen Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) and Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) were impressive while playing at No. 1 for the first time, earning an 8-0 win.
- Juniors Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) continued their dominant doubles play with an 8-0 win at No. 2, while sophomores Julie Miller (Woburn, Mass.) and Brie Hada (Alton, N.H.) teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 3.
- Junior Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) didn't drop a game at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while freshman Hanna Street (New Castle, N.H.) took No. 2 by a 6-1, 6-2 score.
- Hada rolled at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0, with freshman Alyssa Bettencourt (West Brookfield, Mass.) earning a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
- Sophomore Lexi Smith (Rindge, N.H.) took No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 win, while Miller wrapped up the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Inside the Numbers:
- Bettencourt picked up her first collegiate win, while Hada was victorious in her first doubles action.
- Sundquist and Venincasa improved to 4-0 as a doubles team, while Marshall and Winter moved to 3-0 in pairs action.
- Street has been perfect in singles play, improving to 4-0 on the season.
- As a team the Panthers have won 21-of-30 (.700) singles matches and 11-of-15 (.733) doubles matches on the year.
