PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Meghan Hamilton (Walpole, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead Plymouth State University to a 3-1 win over Salve Regina University in the Panthers' women's ice hockey home opener at Hanaway Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Carsen Moffett (Kamloops, British Columbia) gave PSU a first period lead less than five minutes into the game and Hamilton followed with her first of the year, but the Seahawks came back to cut the lead in half at the end of one. Hamilton picked up an assist as the Panthers extended to 3-1 late in the second period and sophomore
Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) held strong between the pipes to preserve the win.
Plymouth State improves to 1-1 on the season, while the Seahawks fall to 0-1.

How it Happened:
- Plymouth State took the lead at the 4:36 mark of the first period when Moffett grabbed a loose puck in a scrum in front of the net and poked the puck low to the glove side for the early advantage.
- The Panthers extended the lead ten minutes later. Senior Georgia McLellan (Kamloops, British Columbia) blasted a slapshot from the blue line that Hamilton tipped to the five-hole to make it 2-0.
- Salve Regina got on the board with 1:48 left in the opening period to cut into the deficit.
- The middle stanza saw back-and-forth action with neither goaltender giving ground. Plymouth State tacked on a key insurance tally with 3:01 left in the frame when Hamilton found junior Taylor Thomas (Prior Lake, Minn.) in the slot and Thomas' shot beat the goalie low to the blocker side.
By the Numbers:
- Hamilton's tally was the first of her career. It was also her first multi-point game.
- Julian finished with 20 saves, including 15 over the final two periods, to pick up her first win of the year.
- The Panthers capitalized on 2-of-5 power play chances, while Salve Regina was 1-for-5 with the skater advantage.
- Junior Addie Swanson (Eagle River, Alaska) had an assist for the second straight game, while McLellan and sophomore Isabella Borbridge (Calgary, Alberta) also had assists for the Panthers.
- Plymouth State has won each of the last four meetings between the two teams.
