WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Sophomore
Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) and senior
Olivia Petito (Jacksonville, Fla.) combined to turn aside 39 shots, but Williams College skated past Plymouth State University, 7-0, in non-conference women's hockey action at Lansing Chapman Rink on Tuesday night.
Williams used a pair of power play goals to help build a 3-0 lead in the opening period and the Ephs maintained control the rest of the way.
Plymouth State heads into the Thanksgiving recess with a 4-4-1 mark, while the Williams improves to 1-2.
The Basics:
- Plymouth State 0, Williams 7
- Plymouth State (4-4-1)
- Williams (1-2-0)
How it Happened:
- Senior Kassidy Lyons (Upper Blackville, New Brunswick) tested the Williams goaltender early, but she was up to the challenge.
- The hosts got on the board at 6:31 with a power play tally, then cashed in on another woman-advantage 8:31 later.
- The Ephs added a third tally before the period would end.
- Plymouth State tried to rally but was unable to get anything past the Ephs' goaltender and the hosts tacked on to coast to the win.
By the Numbers:
- Julian finished with 12 saves in the first period before giving way to Petito, who stopped 27 over the final two.
- The Ephs held a 46-8 advantage in shots.
- Lyons and senior Georgia McLellan (Kamloops, British Columbia) combined for half of the Panthers' shots.
Up Next:
- Plymouth State will enjoy the Thanksgiving break before returning to New England Hockey Conference action the weekend of December 3 and 4, when the Panthers visit conference newcomers William Smith and Elmira.
