PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three members of the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team were among those honored by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) when its annual awards winners were announced.
 
Freshman Lilli Stogner (Weare, N.H.) earned the top honor after being named to the NEWVA All-Rookie Team, while junior Marissa Plaza (Folsom, Calif.) took home NEWVA All-New England Honorable Mention and senior Alexa Price (Moultonborough, N.H.) was named NEWVA All-Senior Team Honorable Mention.
 
The NEWVA annual award recipients are nominated by and voted on by the organization's member head coaches. The coaches represent the seven competing conferences in NCAA Division III.
 
Lilli Stogner:

• A 5-9 outside hitter, Stogner wasted little time making an impact on the Panthers. The Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Year and All-LEC Second Teamer averaged 2.86 kills per set while hitting .285. The NEWVA All-Rookie Team is made up of the top 12 student-athletes in their first year of intercollegiate competition as voted by the head coaches. Due to a tie, two additional names were included this year.

Marissa Plaza:

• A 5-10 libero/defensive specialist, Plaza anchored the team's defense and was crowned LEC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-LEC after pacing the conference in both digs (393) and digs per set (4.32). NEWVA All-New England Honorable Mention was awarded to student-athletes appearing on more than one voting ballot.

Alexa Price:

• A 5-8 setter, Price finished her career with 2,589 assists, fifth-most in school history, while taking home First Team All-LEC honors. Her 9.98 assists per set average was the highest in the conference and the fourth-highest mark in program history. Price also did damage at the service line where she averaged 0.54 aces per set. The NEWVA All-Senior Team was awarded to the top 32 senior or graduate student-athletes by vote, with the next ten earning Honorable Mention.

 
Plymouth State went an impressive 23-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in Little East play to capture the program's fifth regular season title. Plymouth State was ranked as high as seventh in the NCAA Region I rankings and climbed as high as 11th in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) regional polls, before falling in the semifinals of the LEC Tournament.
