Sarah Asciutto (Manchester, Vt.) picked up her first career win to help Plymouth State University top Western Connecticut State University, 9-0, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis match at Westside Courts on Saturday.

Brie Hada (Alton, N.H.) held off their opponents for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles to help PSU sweep pairs play. The Panthers rolled through singles action with nobody dropping more than three games in a set.
Plymouth State sweeps the season series from the Colonials without surrendering a point to run its record to 3-1 (3-1 LEC). WestConn falls to 1-4 (1-4 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Senior Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) coasted to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, with senior Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) and junior Julie Miller (Woburn, Mass.) teaming up for an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
- Asciutto and Hada increased the PSU lead to 3-0 after staving off the competition for an 8-5 win at No. 3 pairs.
- McCarthy went 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, with Winter earning the victory at No. 2 by a 6-3, 6-1 margin.
- Sundquist toppled her opponent at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3), while Miller went 6-0, 6-3 to win at No. 4.
- Hada (6-1, 6-1) and Asciutto (6-1, 6-0) closed out the sweep with victories at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
By the Numbers:
- PSU blanked the Colonials earlier this spring and has won each of the last 12 meetings dating back to October 2011.
- The shutout was the Panthers' fifth in its 12-match winning streak against WCSU.
- All three of PSU's wins this spring have been by a 9-0 score.
