PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Playing for the first time in nearly a month, the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team opened the 2022 portion of the schedule against a strong Colby College team, falling to the Mules by a 9-0 score at Hanaway Rink on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors jumped out to a 5-0 first period lead, sparked by three power play goals, and never looked back, adding a pair of goals in both the second and third periods.
Plymouth State had an early skater advantage, but the Mules were able to keep PSU off the board and the visitors opened the scoring a minute later.
Plymouth State drops to 4-7-1, while the Mules improve to 7-1-0.

How it Happened:
- Sophomore Carsen Moffett (Kamloops, British Columbia) had a bid during PSU's early power play opportunity, but her shot was turned aside by the Mules' goaltender.
- After killing off the penalty, the visitors got on the board just over a minute later, then doubled their lead at 6:28.
- Colby took advantage of a 5-on-3, scoring a pair of power play goals to push the lead to 4-0, before adding a third power play strike late in the frame.
- Colby struck twice in the middle stanza to extend the advantage to 7-0 heading into the final 20 minutes.
- The Mules added two more special teams scores in the third period, adding a power play strike and short-handed tally to close the scoring.
By the Numbers:
- Colby held a 44-12 advantage in shots.
- Sophomore Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) finished with 35 saves for the Panthers, including 16 in the third period alone. Her 35 stops were the third-most of her career and just five shy of her career high.
- PSU was held scoreless in four power play chances, while the Mules went four-of-six.
- This was the fifth meeting between the two teams and the second at Hanaway Rink. The Mules have won all five games.
- Colby College is receiving votes in the most recent USCHO poll.
