MBB: WestConn rallies past Panthers in second half

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's basketball team was defeated by Western Connecticut State University, 64-51, in Little East Conference (LEC) action at Foley Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior Dante Rivera (Lawrence, Mass.) led the Panthers with 10 points, while classmate Gerald Fleming (Tampa, Fla.), sophomore Kevin Henry (Stratham, N.H.) and freshman Yansel Reyes (Manchester, N.H.) each had nine.
 
Plymouth State kept a lead heading into halftime, but hot three-point shooting from the visitors in the second half allowed WestConn to pull away in the end.
 
Prior to tip-off, Rivera was honored in a brief ceremony at center court to commemorate his 1,000th career point milestone accomplished on Tuesday.
 
Plymouth State falls to an even 7-7 (2-3 LEC) on the year, while WestConn improves to 8-7 (2-5 LEC).

  • The Panthers held their opponents without a field goal for the first 6:30 of play to race out to a 12-6 advantage. Plymouth State's defense drew four WestConn offensive fouls during the stretch.
