Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore
Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) forced a second set tiebreaker, but Bridgewater State University blanked Plymouth State University, 9-0, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis match at Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts on Saturday.
In the regular season finale, Cardoso dropped a highly contested opening set, 6-4, before coming up on the short end of a 7-3 tiebreak score to drop the second set 7-6.
The Panthers finish the regular season at an even 6-6 (4-4 LEC) and will be the fifth seed for next week's LEC Tournament. Plymouth State will visit fourth-seeded UMass Dartmouth for a first round matchup on Tuesday (Oct. 18).
Bridgewater State ends the year with an 8-4 mark (6-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Cardoso battled at No. 5 but came up short, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
- Sophomore Tessa LaBarre (North Smithfield, R.I.) fell at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, while junior Sarah Asciutto (Manchester, Vt.) was tripped up at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
- Senior Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) fell in straight sets at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2, and freshman Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) fell at No. 4, 6-3, 6-0.
- Junior Erin Good (Dartmouth, Mass.) teamed up with Asciutto at No. 3 doubles, but the Panthers came up short, 8-4.
- Bridgewater State took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by the same, 8-2 scores.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State slips to 5-16 against the Bears but had won two of the last three regular season meetings.
- The Panthers are in the LEC Tournament for the ninth straight year.
- PSU dropped its regular season meeting with UMass Dartmouth, 7-2, but had several close matches.
