PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.) scored three times to help Plymouth State University to a 4-0 win over Bridgewater State University in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey matchup at Panther Field on Saturday afternoon.
Healey scored her first of the game on a tomahawk shot just 1:30 into the game. The Bridgewater State defense kept the Panthers off the board for the rest of the half despite multiple scoring opportunities. The Panthers' defense was just as stingy, though, not allowing a single shot on goal for the entire half.
The PSU offense kept pushing and junior
Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) broke through when she scored just 2:28 into the third quarter to extend the lead to 2-0. Healey scored two more to complete the hat trick in a span of just under two minutes in the third quarter to give her a team-leading 21 goals on the year.
The Bears' offense gained its only chance of the game late in the fourth quarter off a penalty corner, but junior
Kayla Antonucci (Windham, N.H.) turned it aside to preserve the shutout as the Panthers cruised to the 4-0 win.
