PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University battled, but league-leading Rhode Island College was too strong in a 9-0 win over the Panthers in Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis action at the Holderness School Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
RIC, which last lost a conference game exactly six years ago, continued its control of the LEC by jumping out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. The Panthers didn't go quietly, with every player taking at least one game in singles play, but ultimately the Anchorwomen were able to close out the match.
Plymouth State falls to 4-5 (2-3 LEC), while the Anchorwomen stay unbeaten at 7-0 and 5-0 in conference play.

How it Happened:
- Senior Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Tessa LaBarre (North Smithfield, R.I.) forced the RIC top pairs team to work in an 8-3 setback at No. 1 doubles.
- In singles play, Marshall put up a fight in the second set, but came up short 6-0, 6-3, at No. 1.
- LaBarre had her five-match singles winning streak snapped after suffering a 6-2, 6-2 setback at No. 3.
- Sophomore Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) played well at No. 5 singles in a 6-3, 6-2 setback, while junior Erin Good (Dartmouth, Mass.) was similarly competitive at No. 6 singles in a 6-3, 6-1 loss.
- Freshman Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) and junior Sarah Asciutto (Manchester, Vt.) fell by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
By the Numbers:
- LaBarre had won five consecutive singles matches.
- The Anchorwomen have won the last 11 meetings between the two teams.
- Rhode Island College's last conference loss came on Oct. 4, 2016.
