JR Barone (West Chester, Pa.) scored a goal and added an assist to log his 100th career point and help Plymouth State University cruise past Worcester State University, 5-1, in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey action at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center on Saturday night.
Barone wasted little time in his bid to reach the milestone, lighting the lamp 5:32 into the first period to become the 15th player to accomplish the feat in a Plymouth State uniform.
The Panthers scored twice in the first period and tacked on three third-period goals before the hosts capitalized on a power play in the final minute to account for the final score.
Plymouth State has won seven in a row and now sits at 15-4-2 and 12-1-2 in the MASCAC. Worcester State moves to 9-11-1 and 6-7-1 in the MASCAC.

How it Happened:
- Barone converted a feed from senior Mike McPherson (Somerville, Mass.) at the 5:32 mark of the opening period to reach the milestone while giving PSU an early lead.
- Junior Jovan Zimmerman (Boulder, Colo.) doubled the lead less than four minutes later to provide all the scoring PSU would need.
- After a scoreless second period, the Panthers put the game out of reach with three straight goals in the final stanza.
- Junior Jacob Laurin (Stockholm, Sweden) made it a 3-0 lead just 2:16 into the third and junior Myles Abbate (Norwell, Mass.) potted back-to-back power play goals for a 5-0 lead.
- The Lancers spoiled the shutout bid with a power play tally with just 22 seconds left on the clock.
By the Numbers:
- Junior Brendahn Brawley (Morton, Pa.) stopped 31 of 32 shots to pick up the win and improve to 5-2-1 on the year.
- The Panthers held a 48-32 advantage in shots.
- Laurin continued his hot streak of late, adding a pair of assists to his goal. He has four goals and six assists in his last four games.
- Plymouth State is 10-1-1 against the Lancers dating back to 2018 and is unbeaten in the last eight meetings.
