LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Freshman
Joe O'Reilly (Hollis, N.H.) poured in 11 points and Plymouth State University opened the game with nine straight goals as the Panthers stung Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 24-2, in non-conference men's lacrosse action at the Varsity Athletic Field on Tuesday afternoon.
O'Reilly finished with three goals and eight assists, picking up helpers on the first four goals of the game. Eleven different players scored for the Panthers, led by a four-goal effort from freshman
Ryan Jones (Tolland, Conn.) as PSU was well in control from start to finish.
With the win Plymouth State improves to 3-7, while NVU-Lyndon goes to 1-6.

How it Happened:
- Plymouth State held the Hornets scoreless in the first as O'Reilly set up senior Cam O'Shaughnessy (Milford, N.H.) just 33 seconds into the game before assisting on three straight scores by Jones.
- O'Reilly capped the 5-0 first quarter with his first tally of the afternoon.
- PSU added the first four goals of the second quarter, including a man-up score from O'Shaughnessy, before Lyndon got on the board midway through the frame.
- O'Reilly answered with a man-up goal to spark a run of four-straight for the Panthers, and he completed the hat trick with two minutes left in the half before the hosts closed the half with their second tally to trail 13-2.
- The second half was all Plymouth State. Junior Declan Alexander (Beverly, Mass.) scored twice in the third quarter with O'Shaughnessy handing out three assists as the lead ballooned to 19-2.
- PSU wrapped out the lopsided win with another five scores in the final 15 minutes.
By the Numbers:
- Freshman Leif Charbonneau (North Grafton, Mass.) won 13-of-15 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high 16 ground balls. He added two goals and an assist.
- Jones finished with four goals and three assists to go with 10 ground balls.
- O'Shaughnessy also had a seven-point game after scoring three times and assisting on four others.
- Freshman Jake Lusardo (Norwalk, Conn.) posted a game-high six caused turnovers.
- Plymouth State won 25-of-29 faceoffs and outshot the Hornets by an 80-5 margin.
- PSU was 7-of-8 on clear attempts and won the ground ball battle, 62-18.
