FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Plymouth State University men's soccer team was defeated by the Fitchburg State University Falcons, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup on Elliot Field Tuesday evening.
Sophomore
Lucas McCarthy (Richmond, Va.) led the Panthers in attempts on goal, recording four total shots (three on target) for Plymouth State. Classmate
Scott Danroth (Edmonton, Alberta) put together a stellar effort in goal, tallying 13 saves in the losing effort for the Panthers.
Plymouth State falls to 3-5-4, as Fitchburg State improves to 4-9-2 on the season.

How it Happened:
- Play opened quickly as the competitors jostled to take an early lead in the contest.
- The Falcons were first to find the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
- It continued to be a back-and-forth first half as both teams created several scoring chances in front of the goal, recording 16 total shots and forcing a combined ten saves in the first 45 minutes.
- The Panthers had three chances in the final 90 seconds before halftime to tie the game at 1-1 but were denied and headed to the locker room facing a 1-0 deficit.
- Plymouth State began the second half with much of the momentum, pressing the Falcons' defense further back, probing from all angles to score the equalizer.
- Fitchburg State held off the initial pressure, finding moments in behind the Panther backline, but Danroth was equal to the task each time.
- Time wound down to under 10 minutes as neither team could crack a second half goal and the 1-0 scoreline remained in the Falcons' favor.
- The Falcons appeared to double the advantage as time expired, but the goal was called back due to offside as the game went final (1-0).
