PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's soccer team was defeated by the Rivier University Raiders, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup on Arold Field Thursday afternoon.
Junior
Walter Driscoll (Kittery Point, Maine) led the Panthers' attack with three total shots (one on goal). Freshman
Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, Mass.) played well for Plymouth State, including a shot that rifled off the post in the 63rd minute, nearly giving the Panthers the lead. Starting goalkeeper
Brayden White (Whitefield, N.H.) stopped all four shots that came his way in 65 minutes of play in his first start of the year.
Plymouth State falls to 3-6-4, as Rivier improves to 3-9-4 on the season.
The Basics:

- Plymouth State (3-6-4)
- Rivier (3-9-4)
How it Happened:
- The Raiders started on the front foot, recording the first four shots of the game in the opening 20 minutes.
- Plymouth State pulled the momentum back in its favor to close out the first half, but the score remained 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.
- The Panthers controlled play to open the second half, leading to Mahoney in on goal. He beat a defender and the goalkeeper, placing a perfectly weighted shot towards the back post, but was denied by the woodwork to keep the match deadlocked at 0-0.
- Rivier took the 1-0 lead in the 86th minute on a long ball played into the corner, finding a Raider midfielder. A cross played on the ground across goal seemed to be destined for the opposite touchline, but it found the outstretched foot of a Rivier forward to put the Raiders ahead.
- Plymouth State had one more chance in front of goal to walk away with the tie as time wound down, but the headed attempt landed wide of the target.
