WSWIM: Kramer, Bailey win twice as Panthers split at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – Freshman Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Liv Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) had big days in the pool for the Plymouth State University women's swimming team as the Panthers split a double dual meet against Gordon College and Albertus Magnus College at the Bennett Center on Saturday.
 
The Panthers soared past Albertus Magnus, 168-47, but the host Fighting Scots were able to squeak past PSU, 127-123.
 
Kramer had an outstanding day, picking up wins in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle, while taking second in the 500-yard freestyle, while Bailey claimed victory in the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard backstroke. Bailey also swam the opening leg of PSU's winning 200-yard medley relay team.

Individual Event Top Finishes: Teaming Up: How it Happened:
  • The quartet of Bailey and sophomores Emma Seward (Los Angeles, Calif.), Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) and Paige Lee (Stratham, N.H.) got the team out to a good start with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:11.18.
  • Kramer and Seward took the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Kramer touched the wall in 2:14.77, with Seward right behind her in 2:21.86.
  • Bailey snagged her first victory in the 50-yard backstroke in 32.90, with Lee hot on her heels to take second in 33.25.
  • Seward was first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 38.27.
  • Gaigals was just off the pace in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing second in 1:16.06.
  • Lee took runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle with a strong time of 28.95.
  • Kramer claimed her second win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.12, while Gaigals took second in 1:03.89.
  • Bailey became a multi-event winner after claiming the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.42.
  • Kramer put up a strong showing in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing second in 6:16.46.
  • Gaigals just out-touched her competition in the 50-yard butterfly to win in 31.74, while freshman Gabby Gladu (Lewiston, Maine) was third in the 400-yard IM.
  • PSU closed out the meet with a second place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Bailey, Gladu, Lee and Kramer joined forces for a 1:58.69.
