NEW LONDON, N.H. – Senior
Nora Ryan (Groton, Conn.) smashed six kills and added six blocks as Plymouth State University powered past Colby-Sawyer College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-5, 25-14), in non-conference volleyball action at Hogan Sports Center on Thursday evening.
Plymouth State limited the Chargers to a -.105 attack percentage, while the Panthers pounded 31 kills and hit just shy of .300 as a team. PSU was tough from the service line once again, firing ten aces on the night.
PSU controlled the opening set from start to finish. Junior
Lilli Stogner (Weare, N.H.) had three aces during an eight-point run as PSU coasted to an easy win in set two, then Plymouth State built a sizeable third-set lead early and held Colby-Sawyer at arm's length the rest of the way to earn the sweep.
Plymouth State goes to 22-3, while the Chargers drop to 6-22.

How it Happened:
- Plymouth State scored the game's first four points, and the Panthers would never trail. Colby-Sawyer trailed by just two, 11-9, until PSU went on a run. Senior Aynslee King (Anacortes, Wash.) and Stogner slammed kills to spark a 11-6 surge and consecutive kills from freshman Emma Hampton (Durham, N.H.) gave Plymouth State a 22-14 lead. King closed out the 25-15 win with a kill.
- Hampton's kill snapped a 2-2 tie and Stogner followed with a lengthy service run. She fired off three aces as the lead grew to 10-2 and Plymouth State coasted from there. Sophomore Riley McDonough (Gilford, N.H.) served a trio of aces as the margin ballooned to 21-5 and another King winner ended the 25-5 victory.
- It was the serving of sophomore Kalista Butler (Philipsburg, Pa.) that got PSU off to a strong start in the third as the Panthers ran out to a 9-2 advantage. The Chargers cut the margin to three, 11-8, but Plymouth State recovered to wrap up the sweep with a 25-14 win.
By the Numbers:
- Ryan finished with a match-high six kills (.313 attack pct.), six blocks and three digs.
- Hampton, Stogner, and King each posted five kills, with King accomplishing the feat on just five swings.
- McDonough and Butler posted 14 assists apiece, while Stogner and junior Makayla Marucci (Newton, Mass.) recorded eight digs each.
- Plymouth State hit .295 for the match, while the Chargers attacked at just -.105.
- The Panthers served up ten aces in the with, with Stogner and McDonough hitting three apiece.
- PSU improves to 22-12 in the all-time series, winning each of the last six.
