Women's Swimming Ryan Moyer, Athletic Communications Assistant

WSWIM: Panthers fall to Regis

WESTON, Mass. – A group of Panthers reached for victory for the Plymouth State University women's swim team, but fell short of Regis College, 151-104, in a non-conference dual meet at the Regis Pool on Friday evening.
 
Sophomore Paige Lee (Stratham, N.H.) got to the top of the podium for the Pnathers first in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.50 seconds to win by roughly two seconds.
 
Freshman Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) picked up the momentum into the 100-yard freestyle, winning in 1:02.08.
 
Sophomores Emma Seward (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) notched the final two victories of the day, with Seward winning the 500-yard freestyle by about five seconds in 6:12.49, as Gaigals won the 50-yard butterfly in 30.82 seconds.
 
Plymouth State evens out a 1-1, while Regis rises to 4-3.

Individual Event Top Finishes: Teaming Up: How it Happened:
  • Kramer, Gaigals, Lee and sophomore Liv Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) snagged a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:11.18 to start the meet.
  • Seward took home second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:46.37.
  • Kramer came back in the 200-yard freestyle for another second-place finish in 2:18.02.
  • The duo of Lee and junior Sam Morales-Barszcz (Meriden, Conn.) finished second and third in the 50-yard backstroke with times of 32.49 and 36.62, respectively.
  • Seward and Kramer touched the wall in the 50-yard breaststroke in 38.32 and 40.68 seconds for second and third place.
  • Lee punched in the first victory of the day in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.50 seconds, while senior Heather Callanan (Winthrop, Mass.) took third in 33.85 seconds.
  • Kramer followed with a win in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:02.08, with Gaigals on her heels in 1:02.94.
  • Bailey snatched two more second place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard IM.
  • Seward and Gaigals tacked on two more individual wins with Seward taking the 500-yard freestyle in 6:12.49 and Gaigals winning the 50-yard butterfly in 30.82 seconds.
  • The squad of Bailey, Callanan, Seward and Gaigals finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay to cap off the day in a time of 2:03.29.
