PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University volleyball team was one of 1,332 collegiate and high school volleyball teams to earn the United State Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Thursday.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. The Panthers were nearly as dominant in the classroom as they were on the court last fall, combining for a 3.54 team GPA.
Plymouth State was one of two Little East Conference (LEC) schools to earn the honor, joined by Eastern Connecticut State.
Led by fifth-year head coach
Joan Forge, the Panthers went 21-7 last fall, claiming a third straight LEC regular season title and advancing to the championship game of the LEC Tournament.
