LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Sophomore
Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) was dominant to help Plymouth State University topple Vermont State University Lyndon, 9-0, in non-conference women's tennis action at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Craigie coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and joined forces with junior
Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) to cruise to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Cordoso was just as overpowering in her singles match, not dropping a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.
Plymouth State improves to 1-0 on the year, while the Hornets slide to 0-1.

How it Happened:
- Seniors Sarah Asciutto (Manchester, Vt.) and Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) secured the Panthers' first point with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before Craigie and Cardoso doubled the advantage.
- The freshmen tandem of Kelsey Kane (Warner, N.H.) and Sofia Orama (Marlborough, Conn.) posted a shutout in their first collegiate match, blanking their competition, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.
- Freshman Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) secured PSU's first singles point with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles before Cardoso and Craigie followed with their dynamic performances to make it 6-0.
- Puzio took No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Asciutto and junior Amelia Brown (Meredith, N.H.) didn't drop a game in a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State improves to 23-0 all-time against the Hornets. PSU has never surrendered more than two points and have swept 11 of the past 14 contests.
- Craigie and Cardoso have never lost as a team at No. 1 doubles.
- Cardoso's singles win was the 17th of her career, moving her into a tie for 27th among the all-time singles win leaderboard.
