WSWIM: Bailey, Gaigals lead Panthers against Keene State/RIC

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Liv Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) claimed an individual event win while sophomore Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) posted a pair of third place finishes to lead the Plymouth State University women's swim team in a double dual meet against Keene State and Rhode Island College on Senior Day at the PSU Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
 
Bailey posted the winning time in the 100-yard backstroke, while Gaigals took third in both the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore Paige Lee (Stratham, N.H.) also posted a top-three finish, with her third place showing coming in the 50-yard backstroke.
 
Prior to the meet Plymouth State honored senior Heather Callanan (Winthrop, Mass.) for her contributions to the program throughout the last four years.
 
Plymouth State outswam the Anchorwomen, 137-121, while Keene State toppled the Panthers, 236-54.

Individual Event Top Finishes: Teaming Up: How it Happened:
  • Sophomore Emma Seward (Los Angeles, Calif.) opened with a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 6:14.35.
  • Lee took third in the 50-yard backstroke in 33.26, with junior Sam Morales-Barszcz (Meriden, Conn.) and Callanan going fifth and sixth.
  • Gaigals notched her first top-three in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.13. Junior Liana Gobin (Belfast, Maine) added a fifth-place finish in the event in 1:24.02.
  • Bailey was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.45, just ahead of Lee's sixth place finishing time of 28.95.
  • Freshman Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) took fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.69.
  • Bailey paced the field in the 100-yard backstroke, the Panthers' lone event win on the day, narrowly out-touching the competition with a winning time of 1:07.58. Lee placed fifth in 1:13.57.
  • Freshman Gabby Gladu (Lewiston, Maine) was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:26.67.
  • Kramer followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.66, before Gaigals ended third in the 50-yard butterfly in 30.21 seconds.
  • PSU closed out the meet with a third place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Lee, Kramer, Bailey and Gaigals teamed up for a combined time of 1:57.01.
