PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's soccer team was defeated by the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors, 2-0, in Little East Conference (LEC) action on Arold Field Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Warriors were able to score two second half goals to secure the critical conference victory as the postseason positioning starts to take form.
Junior
Nevaeh Petruzzi (Newmarket, N.H) led the Panthers with four shots (three on goal), while senior
Molly Bellmore (Hebron, Conn.) recorded three shots of her own (one on goal).
Plymouth State will have one more shot to help secure a chance at the postseason for the first time in five years when the Panthers square off against UMass Dartmouth in two weeks in a must-win situation.

Plymouth State falls to 5-9-0 (2-5-0 LEC), while Eastern Connecticut moves to 4-8-2 (2-2-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Each team produced a pair of shots in the opening 20 minutes of play, as the Panthers recorded one shot on goal and neither team managed to breakthrough with an early goal.
- The Warriors started to gain momentum, closing out the second half with most of the opportunities, but the Panthers' defense held strong to keep a 0-0 scoreline into the halftime break.
- Eastern Connecticut scored the first goal of the contest in the 52nd minute when a striker broke through the back line and managed to poke the ball home for a 1-0 lead.
- The visitors doubled their lead in the 60th minute, giving the team enough of a cushion to slow things down and close out the conference win.
By the Numbers:
- Eastern Connecticut outshot the Panthers, 16-12.
- Both teams recorded six corner kicks.
- Shots on goal went to the Warriors, 9-7.
- The Panthers are 1-2-2 in the last five meetings.
- At the conclusion of the match, six LEC teams are separated by just five points for the final three playoff spots.
