PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The leading scorer for the Plymouth State University women's soccer team was among a group of student-athletes recognized when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its major award winners and all-conference teams on Wednesday.
Freshman
Maggie MacDonald (Pembroke, Mass.) was named to the All-LEC Third Team after a dynamic rookie campaign, becoming just the 14th first-year Panther to earn all-conference recognition since the LEC began sponsoring women's soccer in 1990.
MacDonald burst onto the scene, notching braces in two of her first three games. She tallied a pair of second-half goals in PSU's 3-0 season-opening win at Thomas, then posted a season-high five points with two goals and an assist in a 5-2 victory over Nichols just a week later.
She buried the game-winner in the 56th minute as the Panthers shut out Wellesley, 2-0, in mid-September, and added a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win at Elms later that month.
MacDonald finished the season with a team-best seven goals, tying
Molly Bellmore for the most by a first-year player since 2022, while her team-high 16 points were just one shy of Bellmore's 17 in the same season. She logged more than 1,300 minutes on the pitch – the third-most on the team – while starting all 18 games.
MacDonald's scoring proved impactful, as the Panthers went 4-1 in games in which she found the back of the net.
Plymouth State finished the season 6-12 under head coach
Sammy Blizzard Bogardus, matching the program's highest win total since 2019.
