WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior
Piper Sherbert (Freeport, Maine) made nine saves, but it wasn't enough as Plymouth State University fell to Thomas College, 7-0, in a non-conference field hockey game on Bernatchez Field on Tuesday evening.
The hosts jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first minute of the contest when a shot found its way past Sherbert and the PSU defense. The Panthers' backline held the Terriers' offense at bay for the remainder of the first, but the hosts added two goals in the second frame just 31 seconds apart to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
PSU started to find its game in the third quarter, but three shots on net in the frame were all turned aside by the Thomas goalkeeper. The Terriers added another tally to take a 4-0 lead heading into the fourth and the hosts poured on the offense in the final stanza, firing six shots on net and tacking on three more goals, cruising to the 7-0 win.
