WSWIM: Bailey continues strong start in setback to Regis

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the second straight meet, junior Olivia Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) won three individual events, but Regis College spoiled the home opener for the Plymouth State University women's swim team, 136-117, at the PSU Natatorium on Friday afternoon.
 
Bailey coasted to wins in the 50-yard and 100-yard backstroke to go with a victory in the 100-yard IM, capturing three individual wins for the second time in less than a week. Junior Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) also posted victories in the team's first home meet of the year.
 
Plymouth State slips to 0-3, while the Pride improve to 3-4.

Individual Event Top Finishers: Teaming Up: How it Happened:
  • The quartet of seniors Sam Morales-Barszcz (Meriden, Conn.) and Liana Gobin (Belfast, Maine) and sophomores Caitlyn Falvey (Dracut, Mass.) and Laurel Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) started the day with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:32.93.
  • Kramer was the runner up in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:36.05 before Bailey claimed the Panthers' first victory in the 50-yard backstroke with a winning time of 31.84.
  • Gaigals took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:14.96 and Bennett and Morales-Barszcz went second and third in the 50-yard freestyle.
  • Kramer snagged her win in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:02.56, winning by nearly five seconds, before Bailey won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.27.
  • Sophomore Gabby Gladu (Lewiston, Maine) just outreached her competition in the 100-yard breaststroke to snag second place in 1:26.53 and Kramer followed with a runner up performance in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:07.60.
  • Gaigals outswam the field in the 50-yard butterfly with a mark of 30.33.
  • Bailey and Gaigals took the top two spots in the 100-yard IM, with Bailey posting a winning time of 1:11.39.
  • Kramer, Gladu, Bailey and Gaigals joined forces to cap the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:56.45.
