PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team defeated the Vermont State University Johnson Badgers, 59-31, in a non-conference match in Foley Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
Plymouth State held VTSU Johnson to one first half field goal en route to a comfortable first win of the season as nine different Panthers produced points on the evening.
Junior
Raegan Peck (Dudley, Mass.) and sophomore
Ashley Stephens (Pembroke, N.H.) led the charge with 12 points apiece, while senior
Alli Ingalls (Hampstead, N.H.) contributed 11 of her own. Junior
Hailey Malozzi (Maynard, Mass.) brought down a team-high 10 rebounds in the winning effort.
The five first half points allowed are the fewest in any contest since at least the 2010-11 season.
Plymouth State improves to 1-1 in the early season, while the Badgers fall to 0-2.

- The Panthers opened on a 14-0 run with 4:26 on the clock in the first quarter.
- VTSU Johnson managed its first field goal with just over two minutes left in the first, the team's only basket of the first quarter, as the Panthers extended the margin to 18-3 after one.
- Plymouth State's defense continued to shut down its counterpart, holding the Badgers to only five first half points as the Panthers took a 30-5 lead into the halftime break.
- The Panthers stretched the margin to 31-points (44-13) with 3:09 remaining in the third quarter.
