PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Six members of the Plymouth State University men's soccer program were honored by College Sports Communicators for their academic excellence on Tuesday, as the CSC Academic All-District Teams were announced.
Seniors
Faisal Abdallah (Accra, Ghana),
Walter Driscoll (Kittery Point, Maine),
Sondre Asheim (Klepp, Norway),
Job Boonstoppel (Amstelveen, Netherlands),
August Westerholm (Stockholm, Sweden) and junior
Massimo Korcsog (Ottawa, Ontario) were all recognized.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches or must start in at least 66 percent of the contests.
Under the veteran guidance of 23-year head coach
Rob Wright, the Panthers went 9-9-2 overall and returned to the LEC Tournament for the first time since 2015. As the fifth seed, PSU blanked fourth-seeded Keene State in a first round game for the team's first postseason victory since the 2008 season. The Panthers fell to eventual champions WestConn in the semifinal round.
