MBB: Panthers remain undefeated in another team win

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's basketball team defeated the Lasell College Lasers, 76-66, in a battle of undefeated teams in Foley Gymnasium on Thursday evening.
 
Plymouth State remains undefeated through its first four games of the season, a feat the team has not seen since it won the first eight games of the 2015-16 campaign.
 
The Panthers continue to play well-rounded, team-first basketball as senior Kevin Henry (Stratham, N.H.) again led the way with 21 points, while junior Torran Bosworth (Springfield, Mass.) recorded 17 points of his own. Senior Elijah Swanson (Meredith, N.H.) tallied 12 points, while sophomore Ivan Yen (Concord, N.H.), came close to a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.
 
Plymouth State improves to 4-0 on the season, while Lasell dips to 4-1.

Top Performers: How it Happened:
  • The Panthers knocked down four three-pointers to take an early 15-5 lead with 15:55 on the clock in the opening half of play.
  • Plymouth State extended the advantage to 13 points (24-11) at the 10:56 mark in the first.
  • Lasell stormed back, closing the gap to 26-24 behind a 13-2 run with 6:08 left until halftime.
  • The Panthers stopped the comeback knocking down back-to-back shots from distance to re-extend the advantage to 32-24 with less than five minutes to go.
  • PSU held onto the eight-point lead (43-35) as the teams went to the locker rooms for the midway break.
  • The Panthers doubled their advantage to 16-points (63-47) behind an 11-4 run with 12:49 left in regulation.
  • Lasell managed to get to within ten points (72-62) with 2:00 left to play but could get no closer as the Panthers won the battle of undefeated teams and improved to 4-0 on the season.
By the Numbers:
  • Plymouth State went 29-of-54 (53.7%) from the floor and 11-of-23 (47.8%) from three.
  • PSU outrebounded the Lasers 37-32.
  • Lasell won the offensive board battle, edging Plymouth State 13-10.
  • Points off turnovers were in Lasers' favor, 25-12.
  • Bench points went to Lasell, 31-13.
  • PSU did not trail at any point in the contest.
  • The Panthers have not shot below 50.0% from the floor this season.
  • It was the team's first win in three meetings against the Blazers, a team that outmatched PSU last season with an 85-59 victory.
