NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team fell to the Norwich University Cadets, 56-47, in a non-conference match in Andrews Gym Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers were held to one field goal in the first quarter as the team found itself down by as many as 13 points in the first half. Plymouth State managed to pull within six points in the second half of play, but Norwich was able to keep PSU at bay and hold off the comeback attempt.
Sophomore
Ashley Stephens (Pembroke, N.H.) recorded a team-high 13 points, while junior
Raegan Peck (Dudley, Mass.) added 11 points of her own. Graduate student
Sabrina Vlahovic (New Hope, Pa.) tallied five points and an impressive 13 rebounds in the losing effort for the Panthers.
Plymouth State falls to 2-4 on the season, while the Cadets improve to 4-1.

How it Happened:
- The Cadets opened play on an 8-3 run with 2:14 on the clock in the first quarter.
- Plymouth State struggled to find its form in the first quarter, knocking down one field goal as the team trailed 10-5 after one quarter of play.
- Norwich jumped out early in the second to extend the lead to 20-7 behind a 10-2 run with 3:47 to go until halftime.
- The Panthers managed to cut the deficit to single digits, trailing by nine-points (22-13) with 1:42 left in the second quarter.
- The Cadets maintained a comfortable advantage at the halftime break, 27-15.
- Plymouth State started to chip into the scoreline, cutting the margin to six points (36-29), with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter.
- Norwich took advantage of late free throw opportunities in the final minute of the third to go up 39-29.
- The Panthers kept things close but were unable to connect consecutive stops in the fourth quarter as the Cadets came away with the hard-fought win.
