SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – NCAA Division II American International College took down Plymouth State University in a wrestling dual meet at Butova Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellowjackets picked up five pins and were the beneficiaries of two forfeits on the way to a 54-0 win.
Plymouth State got a strong performance from junior
Colin Hile (Walpole, Mass.) at 184 pounds in the setback, while classmate
Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.) held a short-lived lead in the first period of his bout at 174 pounds.
Plymouth State slides to 0-15, while AIC improves to 4-9.

How it Happened:
- AIC raced out to a 24-0 lead thanks to a pair of pins at 125 and 133 and PSU forfeits at 141 and 149.
- Sophomore Ricky Perez (Londonderry, N.H.) picked up three points on a trio of escapes in the opening period at 157 pounds, but lost by technical fall, 19-3, in the second period.
- The Yellowjackets added a pin at 165 pounds.
- Miller held a 7-2 lead after a pair of takedowns in the first period, but his opponent rallied to earn a 17-7 major decision victory at 174 pounds.
- In a low-scoring affair at 184 pounds, Hile and his opponent remained scoreless after the first period. Hile earned an escape to open the scoring in the second period but fell behind 3-1 after a takedown heading into the third period. An escape and takedown extended the deficit as Hile came up short in an 8-2 decision.
- The hosts wrapped up the win with pins at 197 and 285.
