FH: Adamske scores but Colby-Sawyer slips past Panthers

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Sophomore Sarah Adamske (Windham, N.H.) scored her second goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as Colby-Sawyer College rallied late to defeat Plymouth State University, 3-1, in a non-conference field hockey game at Sally Shaw Veitch Track and Field on Wednesday evening.

The Panthers had the field tilted in their advantage for a majority of the first quarter, outshooting the Chargers by a 3-0 margin. Colby-Sawyer's defense was equal to the task as it kept the PSU offense off the board as the game remained scoreless.

The hosts got on the board early in the second quarter when a low angle shot eluded graduate student Kayla Antonucci (Windham, N.H.). PSU pushed back and created some traffic but couldn't solve the Chargers' defense as the score remained 1-0 at halftime despite the Panthers outshooting the hosts by a 9-1 margin.

Midway through the third quarter, Adamske found a loose ball inside the shooting arch and her shot found its way through traffic to even the score at 1-1. Colby-Sawyer scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter to take the lead and the Chargers added an insurance marker with less than three minutes to go to preserve the 3-1 win.

Plymouth State evens out at 2-2, while Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-2.
