BOSTON, Mass. – The Plymouth State University fell to the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons, 3-0, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's soccer match at James Cotter Field on Saturday.
Plymouth State sought to play spoiler, as the Beacons needed a win to stay in the playoff hunt. A strong defensive effort was shown to keep the UMass Boston attack at bay, as senior goalkeeper
Sydney Rowe (Cañon City, Colo.) tallied nine saves. Two goals in a three-minute span in the second half, including a penalty kick, were enough for UMB to seal the victory.

Islah Godo (Topsham, Maine) produced a spark for Plymouth State, recording three shots each in the losing effort for the Panthers.
Plymouth State moves to 6-11-0 (0-7-0 LEC), while the Beacons are 7-7-3 (3-3-1 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The Panthers opened play on the front foot creating three of the game's first four opportunities through the first ten minutes of play.
- Momentum shifted midway through the first half as the Beacons started knocking on Plymouth State goal, hitting the post on two separate occasions, but the stalemate continued.
- UMass Boston scored the first goal of the contest in the 32nd minute on some creative combination play down the right side which led to the Beacon striker to put home the tap-in finish.
- The Panthers held strong to keep it a one-goal game at halftime, as Rowe recorded seven saves in the first half to keep Plymouth State in the match.
- A mishap in the 54th minute gifted UMass Boston a 2-0 advantage.
- The Beacons converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute to pull ahead 3-0 and PSU was unable to rally late.
