PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Annalyn Cahill (Mystic, Conn.) blasted a career-high 19 kills as Plymouth State University powered past the University of New England in five sets, 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 15-5), in non-conference women's volleyball action at Foley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Cahill set a new personal best for the second time in the last three matches, hitting a crisp .311 for the match. UNE led wire to wire in the opening set, but the Panthers responded with wins in sets two and three. It looked like PSU would close out the match in four, but UNE rallied with an 8-0 run to erase a seven-point deficit and eke out a 27-25 win. Plymouth State took complete control in the decisive fifth set, building an 8-3 lead at the switch before extending the margin to double digits for a comfortable win.

Plymouth State improves to 18-6, while the Nor'easters move to 11-10.

How it Happened:
	- UNE started out strong in set one, grabbing a quick five-point lead. The Nor'easters extended the margin to 20-11 before sophomore Danielle Emerson (Biddeford, Maine) notched a kill to spark a comeback. Cahill and freshman Fiona Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) notched kills to cut the deficit to 22-18, but UNE held on for a 25-20 victory.
- The second set stayed tight through the middle stages. With the score tied at 14-14, Emerson's kill gave PSU the lead for good. Senior Veronika Castro Rodriguez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) served an ace for a 21-16 advantage, forcing a UNE timeout. The Nor'easters got two quick points out of the break, but four straight errors handed the Panthers the 25-18 win.
- Cahill's kill and an Emerson ace helped PSU to a 12-5 lead in the third. UNE trimmed the gap to three, but a UNE error and another Cahill kill restored the five-point cushion, and the teams traded points the rest of the way as the Panthers claimed the set, 25-20.
- Plymouth State used a 13-6 run to break an 8-8 tie in the fourth. Emerson recorded back-to-back aces, and graduate student Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) added a pair of kills for a 21-14 lead. UNE answered with eight straight points to pull ahead. The teams traded points to ties at 22, 23, 24 and 25 before UNE closed out the set, 27-25.
- PSU's blocking took over early in the fifth. The Panthers tallied four blocks for a quick 6-2 lead and went up 8-3 at the switch. Freshman Sya McKay (Somersworth, N.H.) sparked a match-clinching 7-2 run with a kill as Plymouth State rolled to a 15-5 win.
