Étienne Tremblay-Mathieu (Québec City, Québec) posted a four-point game and junior
David Matousek (Karlovy Vary, Czechia) scored twice as Plymouth State University rolled past the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 7-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's ice hockey game at Hanaway Rink on Friday evening.
Matousek opened the scoring early in the first period, and senior
Rider McCallum (Langley, British Columbia) doubled the margin after stealing a pass at the blue line and beating the Corsairs' goalie late in the frame. PSU struck again in the final minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission.
Senior
Will Redick (Collingwood, Ontario) moved into a tie for third on PSU's all-time scoring list with his 59th career goal six minutes into the second. Tremblay-Mathieu potted his first collegiate tally on the power play just two minutes later, extending the Panthers' lead to 5-0.
UMass Dartmouth got on the board with a power-play strike midway through the period, but Matousek responded with a man-advantage goal of his own in the third. Senior
Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) capped the scoring with 6:43 remaining.
Plymouth State improves to 2-3-0 (2-1-0 LEC), while the Corsairs fall to 2-3-0 (0-1-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Matousek tipped in a shot from junior Severi Sulonen (Turku, Finland) at 6:14 of the first period to give PSU an early 1-0 lead.
- McCallum intercepted a clearing attempt at the blue line and skated in, beating the UMD goalie to the glove side with 2:10 remaining to make it 2-0.
- Less than a minute later, Tremblay-Mathieu's long pass spung sophomore Luca Rea (Burlington, Ontario) on a breakaway. Rea finished to push the lead to 3-0 heading into the intermission.
- Early in the second, Tremblay-Mathieu banked a pass off the boards to Redick in the neutral zone, and Redick cut to the net before slipping the puck inside the far post for a 4-0 advantage.
- Tremblay-Mathieu followed with his first collegiate goal – a power-play strike – just two minutes later to make it 5-0.
- The Corsairs converted a power play midway through the period to get on the board.
- During a PSU man-advantage in the third, Sulonen carried the puck the length of the ice before dropping it to Matousek in the right circle. Matousek's quick wrister beat the goalie stick side for a 6-1 lead.
- Another long pass from Tremblay-Mathieu created a 2-on-1 late in the frame, and Doyle picked the top-left corner to close out the scoring with 6:43 remaining.
By the Numbers:
- Tremblay-Mathieu recorded a four-point night with a goal and three assists.
- Matousek posted the third multi-goal game of his career and his first since March 2024.
- Sulonen matched his career high with three assists.
- Redick's goal moved him into a tie with Dennis Kane for third on PSU's all-time scoring list (59 career goals), leaving him three shy of second place.
- Junior Connor Strobel (Butler, Pa.) stopped 19 shots to earn the win.
- Plymouth State held a 47-20 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Panthers went 2-for-3 on the power play; UMass Dartmouth finished 1-for-3.
- PSU improves to 41-21-6 in the all-time against the Corsairs and has now won 17 straight in the series.
