HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior
Andrew Stuckless (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) netted his second goal of the season, but Trinity College topped Plymouth State University, 6-1, in non-conference men's ice hockey action at Albert Creighton Williams Rink on Tuesday night.
The Bantams opened with two first-period goals, then added a third just 15 seconds into the middle frame to seize early control. Trinity added two more in the second to build a sizable lead heading into the third. Stuckless broke through with eight minutes remaining, beating the goaltender to the glove side, but it was the lone marker to get past him.
Plymouth State moves to 5-4-0, while Trinity improves to 1-4-0.

How it Happened:
- Trinity struck first at 3:31 of the opening period, finishing a breakaway with a shot to the top left corner.
- Freshman Étienne Tremblay-Mathieu (Québec City, Québec) sprung sophomore Matt Hale (Center Harbor, N.H.) with a long breakout pass minutes later, but a Trinity defender disrupted the attempt.
- Senior Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) fired from the point midway through the period, but the Bantams' goalie knocked it away with his shoulder.
- The hosts doubled the lead at 11:00 on a 2-on-1 finish from the right circle.
- Trinity pushed it to 3-0 in the opening minute of the second after a forecheck forced a turnover in the slot.
- Doyle was hauled down from behind on a breakaway two minutes later, and during the ensuing power play Tremblay-Mathieu blasted a one-timer off the far post, but the puck stayed out.
- A tipped shot from the blue line made it 4-0 with 6:20 left in the second, and Trinity added a power-play goal in the final two minutes to extend the advantage to 5-0.
- Early in the third, Stuckless generated a 1-on-0 chance after poking the puck free, but the Bantams' netminder flashed the glove for a highlight-reel save.
- Trinity added a sixth goal midway through the period before Doyle collected a loose puck at the blue line and set up Stuckless, who buried a wrister to the glove side to break the shutout.
