PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Will Redick (Collingwood, Ontario) scored twice to lift Plymouth State University to a 5-1 win over Rivier University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey game at Hanaway Rink on Saturday night.
Senior
Ethan Stuckless (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) got the Panthers an early lead less than five minutes into the contest and classmate
Dante Moretti (Columbus, Ohio) made it 2-0 midway through the frame. Rivier answered right back to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading to the second period.
Redick scored a rebound goal during a power play with 5:38 left in the stanza, then struck again on a beautiful feed from graduate student
Colin Tracy (Bow, N.H.) four minutes later to extend the margin.
Junior
Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) potted an empty net goal, with senior goaltender
Jameson Bourque (Weare, N.H.) picking up the assist. Bourque finished with 23 saves to improve to 2-0-0.
Plymouth State improves to 17-5-0 (14-1-0 MASCAC), while the Raiders dip to 5-15-1 (1-12-1 MASCAC).

How it Happened:
- Stuckless opened the scoring just 4:40 into the contest. After the Rivier goaltender made a fantastic save on the initial shot, Stuckless grabbed the rebound and sent it to junior Rider McCallum (Langley, British Columbia) at the left circle. McCallum went right back to Stuckless, who gained the slot and lifted a backhander over the goalie's glove for a 1-0 lead.
- Sophomore Severi Sulonen (Turku, Finland) fired a turnaround shot in the slot five minutes later. The goalie made the initial stop, but Moretti dumped the rebound into the open net.
- Rivier answered right back 38 seconds later to make it 2-1 with 8:31 left in the first and the score would hold into intermission.
- The Raiders skated in for a 2-on-1 break six minutes into the second, but Bourque made the stop and dove on the loose puck.
- Sulonen whipped a shot from the left circle during a 4-on-3 power play and Redick rifled the rebound into the open net to make it 3-1 with 5:38 left in the period.
- Redick added his second of the night with 1:23 left before the break. Tracy slipped a pass through the Rivier defense and Redick buried his wrist shot to give PSU a three-goal margin heading to the final period.
- Rivier aggressively pulled the goalie in an attempt to rally, but Bourque sent a pass to Doyle in the neutral zone and Doyle skated into the zone before firing into the open net to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Redick leads the Panthers with 17 goals on the season. He has 14 points during his eight-game points streak.
- Sulonen and McCallum registered two assists apiece.
- Bourque made 23 saves to pick up his second win in as many starts this winter.
- Plymouth State held a 46-24 advantage in shots.
- PSU was 1-for-1 on the power play, while the Raiders were 0-for-1.
- The Panthers won 50-of-73 faceoffs (68.5%), with senior Cam Patton (Bible Hill, Nova Scotia) going 18-5 at the dot.
- Plymouth State won the only other matchup between the two teams, a 6-1 victory on the road last month.
