Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) and sophomore
Lauryn Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.) teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, but three-time defending Little East Conference (LEC) champion University of Massachusetts Boston overpowered Plymouth State University, 7-0, in a women's tennis match at the Holderness School Courts on Saturday.
Ahern and Corrigan partnered for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, and Plymouth State nearly earned the doubles point, but the Beacons held on for a 7-6 win at No. 3 to take a 1-0 lead. Corrigan put up a strong fight at No. 4 singles and senior
Maddie Lorenz (Jefferson, N.H.) battled at No. 5, but UMass Boston was too strong in the end.
Plymouth State slips to 1-4 (0-2 LEC), while UMass Boston goes to 3-1 (2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Ahern and Corrigan earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
- With the doubles point hanging in the balance, Lorenz and freshman Sidney Huff (Port Orchard, Wash.) left it all on the court at No. 3, but their opposition was able to eke out a 7-6 win.
- Corrigan fell at No. 4 singles in a highly contested matchup, falling 6-7 (4-7), 4-6.
- Lorenz also put up a fight, coming up just short at No. 5 by a 5-7, 4-6 margin.
- Sophomore Sarah Lamy (Hooksett, N.H.) fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.
