DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Plymouth State University secured the doubles point, but the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth swept singles play to earn a 6-1 victory in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis match at the UMD Courts on Saturday.
PSU claimed identical 6-4 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles, but the Corsairs rebounded with straight-set victories in all six matches. Sophomore
Lauryn Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.) battled at No. 3 before falling, 4-6, 2-6.
Plymouth State slips to 1-5 (0-3 LEC), while UMass Dartmouth improves to 6-2 (3-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Corrigan and senior Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while senior Maddie Lorenz (Jefferson, N.H.) and sophomore Sarah Lamy (Hooksett, N.H.) won by the same score at No. 3.
- The Panthers nearly swept doubles, but junior Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) and freshman Sidney Huff (Port Orchard, Wash.) were edged, 7-5, at No. 2.
- UMD rallied in singles play. Corrigan pushed her opponent at No. 3 before falling, 4-6, 2-6, while Lamy dropped a close 2-6, 3-6 decision at No. 5.
- Ahern was topped at No. 2, 1-6, 3-6, and Huff battled for games in a 2-6, 2-6 setback at No. 6.
By the Numbers:
- The match marked the first time Corrigan and Craigie played together.
