NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Seniors
Olivia Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) and
Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.), along with junior
Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), each won individual events for the Plymouth State University women's swim team. Despite their efforts, the Panthers fell to Norwich University, 190-70, in a dual meet at Goodyear Pool on Saturday.
Bailey earned a pair of wins, taking first in the 50-yard backstroke (30.68 seconds) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.47). She also finished second in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.99.
Gaigals won the 50-yard breaststroke in 35.90 seconds and finished third in the 50-yard butterfly (31.40).
Kramer captured the 500-yard freestyle in 5:54.41 and took third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.87).
Other top finishes included junior
Gabby Gladu (Lewiston, Maine), third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 3:05.14, and classmate
Emma Hannigan (Huntington Station, N.Y.), third in the 50-yard freestyle in 30.96 seconds.
Gladu also made her collegiate diving debut, placing fourth on the 1-meter board with a score of 140.45.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bailey, Gaigals, Kramer and junior
Laurel Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) finished second in 1:54.55.
