WSWIM: Bailey claims triple crown in final home meet

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Olivia Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) celebrated her Senior Day in style, winning a trio of events, to lead the Plymouth State University women's swim team in a triple dual meet with Keene State and Rhode Island College at the PSU Natatorium on Saturday.
 
Bailey topped the field with a season best time of 29.86 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke, before also claiming wins in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.11, and the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.59.
 
Senior Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) also had a strong day in the pool, placing second in the 50-yard breaststroke in 35.82 seconds, before registering a season-best 1:21.63 in the 100-yard breaststroke to place third.
 
Junior Gabby Gladu (Lewiston, Maine) earned an event win with a personal best score of 163.63 on the 1-meter board. She also placed fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke in 38.01 seconds.
 
Classmate Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had a strong performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle, setting a season-best time of nearly 22 seconds to finish second in 11:58.66. She also took second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:44.48.
 
Freshman Savana Vieira (Berkley, Mass.) was fourth in the 50-yard butterfly in 35.58 seconds, while junior Laurel Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) registered a pair of season-best times to place fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.95) and 200-yard freestyle (2:34.01).
 
In relays, PSU's 200-yard medley foursome of Bailey, Gladu, Gaigals, and Kramer placed second in 2:06.59, while Kramer, junior Emma Hannigan (Huntington Station, N.Y.), Bennett, and Gaigals teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay for a third-place finish in 1:56.72.
 
Prior to the meet, Plymouth State honored Bailey and Gaigals for their commitment and dedication to the program.
