PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University claimed the doubles point, but the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth swept singles play to beat the Panthers, 6-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis match at the Holderness School Courts to close out Homecoming weekend on Sunday.
Senior
Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) and junior
Lauryn Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.) earned a victory at No. 1 doubles, while senior
Sofia Orama (Marlborough, Conn.) and sophomore
Sidney Huff (Port Orchard, Wash.) secured the doubles point with a win at No. 2.
The Corsairs were strong in singles play, however, winning all six matches in straight sets. Senior
Anyah Fields (San Diego, Calif.) forced a first-set tiebreak and was edged in set two at No. 5, while Orama and Huff put up strong fights at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, as UMass Dartmouth snapped PSU's three-match winning streak.
Plymouth State moves to 6-3 (2-2 LEC), while the Corsairs improve to 8-3 (4-1 LEC).

How it Happened:
- UMass Dartmouth earned a quick 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, but the Panthers answered at the top two spots. Ahern and Corrigan teamed for a 6-4 win at No. 1, and Orama and Huff secured the doubles point with a 6-3 decision at No. 2.
- The Corsairs took control of the match in singles play, surrendering just two games total in wins at Nos. 6 and 1 to take the lead, then pushed the margin to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
- Orama and Huff were locked in tight battles at Nos. 3 and 4, ultimately falling 6-3, 6-4, and 6-4, 6-3, respectively.
- Fields found herself in the closest singles match of the day. She was nipped in a first-set tiebreak, 8-6, and fell 6-4 in the second set to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Ahern and Corrigan improved to 5-3 as a pairing, while Orama and Huff are also 5-3 as a doubles pair.
- Plymouth State had been on a three-match winning streak.
- UMass Dartmouth has won the last seven meetings and leads the all-time series, 18-13.
