WESTFIELD, Mass. – Two Plymouth State University football players were among those recognized when the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday.
Senior defensive lineman
TJ Taveras (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore running back
Jayden Graham (Rutland, Vt.) each earned spots on the MASCAC Football Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in Saturday's 14-0 shutout of Dean College on Homecoming weekend.
Taveras caused problems for the Bulldogs all day, registering a game-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, 3.5 tackles for a loss totaling 12 yards, a five-yard sack and two quarterback hurries. Taveras and the PSU defense also held Dean scoreless on three red-zone opportunities.
Graham compiled 119 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown in the win, rushing for 98 yards on 16 carries for a 6.1-yard average. His three-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter helped seal the win. Graham also picked up 21 receiving yards on a screen pass to convert a third-and-ten on PSU's opening drive, which resulted in a touchdown.
The Panthers travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday (Oct. 10) to face the unbeaten Buccaneers. Kickoff is set for noon.
