WELLESLEY, Mass. – Seniors
Brendan Lee (Dover, N.H.) and
Brady Lyons (Methuen, Mass.) each set and reset their own school records as the Plymouth State University men's swim team wrapped up the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship at the Boston Sports Institute on Sunday.
Lee topped his own mark in the preliminaries of the 200-yard breaststroke, then shaved more than a second off that time in the finals to finish sixth.
Lyons followed a similar track, surpassing his previous school record in the 200-yard butterfly in the prelims before also cutting more than a full second off that time in the finals to place eighth.
The Panthers completed the three-day meet with 163 points to finish sixth.
Meet Highlights:
- Lee swam 2:20.45 in the prelims of the 200-yard breaststroke to top his school record by 1.47 seconds and qualify for the championship finals. In the finals, Lee was even better, touching the wall in 2:19.38 to reset the mark once again while finishing sixth.
- In the prelims of the 200-yard butterfly, Lyons topped his previous school record by nearly four seconds to qualify eighth in 2:14.09. He followed suit in the finals, placing eighth with another record-breaking swim of 2:13.06.
- Junior Marco D'Addona (Torrington, Conn.) and senior Cory Boisselle (Methuen, Mass.) both qualified for the consolation finals in the 100-yard freestyle with season-best times. D'Addona was 13th in 52.69 seconds, while Boisselle was 15th in 53.31.
- In the finals, D'Addona trimmed another 0.05 seconds off his time to finish fifth in 52.64, while Boisselle placed seventh in 53.65.
- Sophomore Karson Genakos (Gilford, N.H.) placed 17th in the prelims of the 100-yard freestyle in 1:02.24.
- Lee, Lyons, Boisselle, and D'Addona teamed up in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish sixth in 3:37.27.
